Hi, I am looking for an amp (new / used) that best for my Dynaudio Contour 1.3 SE speakers. My budget is about $3,000. My pre-amp is Threshold T-2. Comments, suggestions and personal experiences are appreciated. Thanks.

Having owned Dynaudio Audience 52s, Contour 1.3s and finally the Contour 1.3 SEs, I can definitively say that the 1.3 SEs are absolutely phenomenal monitors! They are superior to the Contour 1.3 MkI and MkIIs in every way. Highs and mids are effortless and ethereal. The bass response is stunning, not just for a small speaker, just stunning.

Yeah, Dynaudio's are great, but power hungry, so definitely buy a high powered amp. I auditioned a pair of Audience 52se's and was told that they were running through a 100watt Rotel amp and they sound just great. As far as the ohms go, if they're six then hook them up to a 4ohm amp, not an 8ohm amp. Happy hunting and listening.

Re: Contour 1.3 MkII vs. SE. Gorgeous speakers. I wonder how they compare to the focus 140s. They are in the higher contour line but the focus 140 is the newer design. I suspect that your contour is the better speaker though. Built to a higher standard I would guess.

Recently purchased the Contour 1.3 Mark II after much listening. These speakers, while mildly demanding of amplifiers, are the flattest in response terms that I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing (sans statics). If you listen at modest rather than light levels, these should be auditioned without fail. The $2,400 is a little steep though.
