My opinion (FWIW) is to commit as soon as possible, due to the nature of Elastic Audio generally being "a bit dodgy", to put it bluntly. I've rebooted sessions with missing regions, dropped regions, regions not playing as they should, etc etc.

For vocal material this would most likely be the Monophonic plug-in (other choices are Polyphonic, Rhythmic, Varispeed and X-Form—although this last choice is not a 'real-time' plug-in and renders any previous choice). Elastic audio is undetectable when using in X-form mode. This mode actually renders the changes as you work and takes considerably longer but is totally worth the wait. If you're considering using it, fire it up in Polyphonic mode, do everything you need to do and then as the last step flip over to X-form to render everything in one hit.
