If you use OMF to export audio from FCP you'll get an OMF container with OMF file formated audio files within the container. The original clip data should be maintained within the OMF data file. When you import the OMF in Protools you can select to work with AIFF or WAV in the Session Parameters.

It generates an AAF, which is far better than an OMF. Just make sure to set the Roles for all of your audio in FCPX beforehand (dialogue, effects, music, etc.), and those will get translated into ProTools tracks. The people from the audio post house I use said I gave them the best-organized, cleanest delivery of my media they’ve seen.

On your export window, choose to export audio only and select the roles you want to export as separate files. Then you’d essentially be mixing with raw stems. I would not advise this, but this is a workaround. The more complicated the project, the less this works. If it’s an interview with B-Roll and MX, this’ll work for you.
