Firepod vs Audiofire8 vs E-Mu 1820M vs M-audio 1814 ...

Well,t he Firepod has 8 preamps, the Audiofire only 2. So if you need more than 2 preamps and don't have any outboard ones right now, the Firepod is pretty much the only option. However, the specs on the Audiofire are quite amazing (113db dynamic range?) but I don't rely on specs much, they don't tell the whole story.

i would get two firepods, unless you definitely need those 5 zero-latency headphone mixes. the firepod driver is stable, the firestudio project driver may not be, and presonus don't seem to be too quick with updates. two firepods give you up to 18 mic channels as opposed to 10 with the firestudio project. Apr 22, 2006 12:53 am If those are your requirments, then the Presonus Firebox, not the Firepod would be a good choice for you then. The MOTU UltraLite has a bit more bells and whistles. And MOTU has a habbit of not releasing junk drivers, so the risk is low there.
