I looked into it and for some reason the voice device is not recognized on Flightgear (not in the sound device: choice). Also, I checked the log file (.fgfs/fgfs.log). /build/simgear-zthhgx/simgear-2020.1.1/simgear/sound/soundmgr_openal.cxx:864: Error: Default audio device not available. I'm getting an error like this.

Usually if an application uses the audio device via /dev/dsp (or /dev/dsp0, /dev/dsp1, etc), then it is probably using OSS. With ALSA, you normally specify an audio device using a string, which might look something like "hw:0,0" or "plug:dmix", or sometimes "ALSA:default", depending on the application itself. ldd

On Ubuntu 19.10 I have the exact same issue when starting flightgear. Ohterwise sound is working fine with other application. It looks like something is wrong with Alsa packaging. hilaire@PCHome:~$ flightgear --show-sound-devices 0.00 [INFO]:general FlightGear: Version 2019.1.2 0.00 [INFO]:general FlightGear: Build Type Dev
