After installing the port/package x11/nvidia-driver a message is displayed. It gives instructions how to enable the kernel module. The message can be shown again executing pkg info -D nvidia-driver Set only "nvidia" or "nvidia-modeset", not both. See pkg info -D nvidia-driver which one to use. Remove those, all of them.
