Just recently installed FreeTTS on Linux, using the JDK-1.5. In order for the test program to render speech to the audio system I must use the -streaming switch as shown below: java -jar freetts.jar -streaming -text "Some text" I've not had to do this in the past on other systems I've installed FreeTTS on (worked just fine without -streaming).
