Issue with Intel HD Soundcard : Gentoo

I'm new to Gentoo, having just come from Arch, and I can't seem to get it working. According to lspci, it's "Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio". Here's some outputs: lspci -k says Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel. dmesg | grep hdaudio says hdaudio: Unable to bind the codec, and then a similar line but with C0D2.
[SOLVED] Intel HDMI audio - no sound / Newbie Corner ...

Either your sink (monitor/TV) does not support 44.1kHz sound or something in i915 is broken. I bet your wav file is 48kHz and your mp3/flac are 44.1kHz. As a workaround, set default-sample-rate to 48000 in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf (and restart pulseaudio) Last edited by tom.ty89 (2016-01-11 08:39:48) Offline.
No sound in Gentoo with Intel AC'97 audio

No sound in Gentoo with Intel AC'97 audio. I have a Dell Inspiron 600m and am trying to get Gentoo working on it. I compiled everything from source and so far everything is working except for sound. In KDE, the Control Center and media applications don't see any sound devices. My USE flags did not include "alsa".
Unable to get sound working on a new install : Gentoo

If it doesn't, make sure alsa works. If speaker-test produces sound, then it does. Once you're certain alsa works, emerge pavucontrol, it's a fine GUI tool for managing basic pulseaudio settings. Set nvidia as your default playback device and it should just work. Also read the consolekit wiki page. And don't add yourself to the audio group.
