Yes, Golden Tube's parent company went out of business some time ago, but these amps can still be repaired or modified easily by reputable online vendors. For a high powered all tube amplifier, the SE-100 is, in my humble opinion, an excellent buy on the used market if you can find one.

Please bear in mind that the SE-40 utilizes Class A circuitry while the SE-100 and SE-85 have Class AB circuits. Also, there is, or at least was, a forum that deals with Golden Tube Audio amps. A google search should be able to locate them for you. Both the Golden Audio forum and Soniccraft existed about a year ago and hopefully they still do.

These are long out of production, and I don't know if the firm still exists but I doubt it. Golden Tube gear was reputed to have substantially more reliability problems than average. I personally owned an early SE-100 and could never get it to run without breaking down for more than a day or so. But Golden Tube had many happy customers.

For those who wish there is all kinds of information on line through a Golden Tube owners group. These amps are easy to modify, upgrade etc. Please don't confuse this with the SE-40 which had all kinds of issues. Many believe that the SE-100 is the best value of any amp on the used market.
