Hi everyone Hopefully someone can help with a problem I am havng with the HDMI sound output from my 8400gs. After a fresh install of Windows 7 x64, I install the drivers for my soundcard which is a Siig Soundwave 5.1 PCI (spdif connected to 8400gs)and sound is working through the HDMI output of the 8400gs.

I cannot use the HDMI cord and the sound card at the same time now with Windows 8. To get sound I have to use the RGB connection and the audio card separately and forget the HDMI for awhile. There is digital audio settings with GeForce 8400GS card and the software with it on the CD. Maybe I have to wait until nVidia make drivers for it.

Well I put 8400gs hdmi in staticice which gave no matches. The 3450 is about $50 which is about $20 more than a 8400gs but it comes with a straight HDMI output and unless you can find an 8400gs with a DVI-HDMI adaptor (which I think from memory can transmit sound) then I would say go with the 3450.
