Can anyone help. Just got Half Life 2 and its amazing BUT I'm having a few probs. Can anyone help??? I like to think I've got a bit of computing knowledge and a fairly fast PC (Pentium 4 2.8GHZ, 512mb RAM, GeForce FX 5200 256mb). When playing Half Life 2 the game sometimes gets choppy audio, eg. saying the same word about three times in a sentance.

The problem ONLY exist in Half life 2. All the other sound works correctly (for example, the boxes, door ways, shooting ect.) are normal and the sound problem only accurrs when they are talking. The clipping/reverb of environmental effects was caused by the Steampipe update because it stripped the game of all the hardware audio options. Originally these effects were meant to be handled by EAX/Aureal 3D hardware extensions and unfortunately the current software Miles stereo system doesn't handle them nearly as well.
