Unflushable, Turdistan. I have a DVD with both 5.1 and LPCM streams. I ripped the DVD to my computer using DVD fab. Then in Handbrake, I opened the VIDEO_TS folder. This is how I normally process DVDs. In Handbrake, I selected "Auto passthrough" for the 2-channel LPCM stream. But the file turned out to have 48khz at 224kbits.

When ripping BluRay's I don't recode the audio, I rip the DTS or DD 'core' 5.1 from the BluRay and then under audio tab on handbrake leave it as 'Auto Passthru'. I dare say the preset you are using is pre setting the audio to a stereo mix.
