We find that this is caused by the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 being able to accept AC-3 audio but the monitor is only two channel audio. In Hauppauge Capture, go to the Advanced Settings -> Audio Encode and click the button which says 'Disable HDMI AC3 support'. This forces your video source to output 2 channel audio which should work with your monitor.

Discussion Starter · #1 · Jul 8, 2016. I upgraded my HTPC to Windows 10 and did a fresh install. I can get either WinTV 7 or v8 to capture video from ATSC HDTV channels just fine. But the WinTV program just won't play audio, live or from recordings. I can play the recorded files just fine in other programs, such as Cyberlink PowerDVD v14.
