Good morning/afternoon/evening. I'm trying to resolve an issue related to Jack autodetection on an Intel motherboard. In a nutshell, I'm using a home made simple adapter for the HDA connector on the motherboard, to connect the line output of this HDA connector to an amplifier. There is a simple loopback wire between ground and the sense input.

Intel introduced HDA back in 2004 though both AC97 and HDA were supported in paralell for a time but anything even remotely modern should be HDA. According to it's datasheet the ALC888 is a HDA chip. I would suggest trying the HD audio connector first, if the rear audio output on your motherboard doesn't work try using the AC97 connector instead.

V said: I wont be much help here, but I will just say I am using a GTX 780 on Windows 8.1.1 which apparently has 1 DVI-I, 1 DVI-D, 1 HDMI and 1 Display Port, and I see only two NVIDIA related Audio Devices. One is "NVIDIA High Definition Audio" and the other is "NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave extensible) (WMD)". I guess the Virtual Audio is for GeForce Experience HDMI adapters.
