This has to be a bug. I noticed today when going to disable elastic audio on a stereo drum file that I had warped a bit and then wanted to commit to audio via the dialog that appears when you go to disable elastic audio and it forces you to either commit the changes or revert to the original file before any elastic moves were made.

As you saw, when you disable Elastic Audio after making an edit, it'll ask you to Revert, Commit, or Cancel. Revert will remove any Elastic Audio edits you've done, Commit will render a new clip with your edits intact, and Cancel just makes the dialog go away and nothing happens.
