A "mid-bass" belongs in a 3-way, it can't realistically be used to cover any higher than say 1KHz due to many factors. It will probably be located low in the doors. An 8" will start to beam around 1,700Hz. An 8" which will pound from say 60Hz and up won't like covering the 5 to 6 octaves necessary to meet a tweeter.
