The DD w6.5 mid bass, or the JL 6w3v3 6.5" subwoofer. The spec numbers look better on the DD, but its technically a mid bass, however the fs is quite a bit lower on it than the JL. I swore I would never run JL product, not that I believe its no good, but the price on a lot of thier product. I can get the JL almost at cost, and pay full for the DD.

I would not use the JL on SPL. Yes they get loud but at 86 db sensitivity your going to need a good sized amp. Depending on the power class, this could be a handicap. JL recommends the 500/1 but the 1000/1 just works better. The DD at 89 db has a 3db advantage out of the box. The DD's are well known in the SPL World.

There is nothing wrong with JL audio subs, but for less than the price of that JL F112v2 that you have the JTR 4000ULF will walk all over it, hitting 10.5 hz easy. Again nothing wrong with JL Audio subs, but if your getting into the big money subs, above say $3 grand, there are others who will do better.
