I have the JL Audio XR 3 way's in the front and I thought that 100 watts per channel would be a little weak for them, but it sounds awesome. I also have the XR 6.5 point series in the back and the 25 watts that goes to the rear still sound great for fill ins. I did slave the 550 5 with a 250 1 powering 2 10in pro wedges.

JL Audio 500/5 repair advice, please. I have a 500/5 that had a bad channel because one of the bias transistors (Q202 and Q203) shorted out. I replaced both with IRF540's that I sourced from ebay. I made sure not to use IRF540N or IRF540Z parts. When I hooked the amp back up in the car, several transistors (IRFZ44R) burned up, unfortunately.

The 500/5 is a great amp for an active, tri-amped, low-moderate power setup. It has really good (i.e. useful) crossovers built-in. And it's relatively small compared to most 5 channel amps. The sub channel on mine seems pretty strong for only 250w, although I'd guess it might be underpowered for 2 10's.
