The JB4 sits in the middle of JohnBlue's bookshelf line between the diminutive JB3 and the far larger JB8B. As all JB speakers, it relies on a single, crossover-less, proprietary driver similar to the one present in the JB3 but one inch larger (the JB8B uses the same 8-inch double whizzer driver as the floorstanding JB8 and is an even more ...

JohnBlue JB4 MK2 standmount loudspeaker review. by John Darko November 7, 2010, 22:59. I have theory about JohnBlue’s JB3 loudspeakers: many audiophiles like the IDEA of them more than they can live with them long-term. Sooner or later the novelty of an immaculately conceived, three inch full-ranger wears thin: they struggle to fill anything ...

Oscar and I both agree that matching the JB4 to single-ended triodes can’t really go wrong. However, even the best possible synergy from JohnBlue’s own TL66 monos and speaker cables (theoretically speaking - I haven’t yet tried their top model), creates no guarantee that you’ll get the best performance from your entire music collection.

Now if only Frederic had liked the JB4, Tommy Wu of JohnBlue would have opened a bottle of champagne last Christmas and left me alone. Alas, Frederic did not like the JB4 and in fair 6moons fashion where manufacturers then may request a …

Oscar’s system included a DIY passive preamp, a DIY 2A3 SET power amp and a Sony S9000 + North Star M192 DAC source. Next we listened to his back-loaded floorstanding horns with 6" Fostex before we perched the JB4 on stands. Oscar’s initial reaction to …

Just like JohnBlue’s entry-level JB3 desktop speakers, the JB4 Mk2 speakers provide a beautifully sweet interpretation of music and other audio. Notes from mid-bass all the way to higher registers are reproduced smoothly yet with immense layering of detail. Frankly, there’s not much we don’t like about the JB4 Mk2s.
