The remote is tiny, lithium-powered deal. To my chagrin, the remote was DOA; I'll call Jolida tomorrow. More importantly, this pre appears to do what I intended: get out of the way and let the rest of the system do its thing. It's great for what it is but what it is is a very simple and affordable preamp. You can already just buy the "upgraded" version as supplied by Jolida. I think all they do is install a couple of "Clarity" caps in place of a couple others. The last one that I had in here was such a unit and that's all that I noticed.

Jolida USA made good stuff. I've got the JD5T preamp, JD9 phono amp, and the JD100 cd player. Never had any problems with any of their units.
