Laserdisc PCM Capture Guide - Fanres

    https://forum.fanres.com/thread-2742.html
This guide is for doing bit perfect (identical to source) captures of the digital PCM track on Laserdiscs. In general you only need a few things, and the process is very simple. Please explain "Bit-Perfect Audio Capture" for LaserDisc PCM

My understanding is Laserdisc PCM is 16bit/44.1kHz - no more. So whatever capture you do, it would be advised to keep it 44.1kHz as record at 48kHz (or higher) will create sync issues with the video. Yes, you could set the DAW at 24bit/44.1kHz, but the only advantage of that would be if you need to use plug-in to alter the sound.

The 70mm print the sound was mastered from was a mix made for test screenings and doesn't contain all of the final score, sound FX, etc...

Yes. The player is so old that it does not support PCM audio at all. Taking your recommendation, I just ordered a player from eBay which supports PCM audio and came with the barcode scanner and IR remote for under $100. I understand what is going on, but I don't understand why they'd do that.
