The default tank music in L4D2 is 52 seconds. If you pack a 1:32 min tank.wav file in your .vpk, the game will loop the music at the :52 timestamp thus wasting the extra 40 seconds of the file and space that 40 seconds the .wav file format takes up.

Right click the game in your library, go to properties, files tab, "Verify Integrity of Game Cache." If you still have the issue, uninstall the game, and then go and manually delete the left 4 dead 2 folder left behind in your Steam directory. Reinstall. It sucks and takes a while, but I had a similar problem, and reinstalling remedied it.
