https://askubuntu.com/questions/719819/libvirt-configure-guest-to-share-host-audio
export QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=pa Doing this gave me the desired effect and the guest audio would run smoothly but the host audio would not work until I would have closed the guest. Looking at the host processes I noticed that libvirt spawned another Pulseaudio instance under my current user (effectively having 2 Pulseaudio instances) instead of using ...

How to fix crackly audio with QEMU, libvirt, Windows 10 and PulseAudio Getting a GPU passed through these days is almost trivially easy and thanks to the Arch Wiki is even easier . kvm - Spice for graphic, pulseaudio for sound - Unix ...
https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/418708/spice-for-graphic-pulseaudio-for-sound
When we use Spice in a virtual machine under KVM/qemu/libvirt, the QEMU_AUDIO_DRV is set to spice by default. My host (debian-Stretch) use a good sound card (Xonar DX) and a better sound driver (pulseaudio, alsa). How to use in a virtual machine spice for the graphic aspect and pulseaudio or alsa for the sound aspect (whatever the guest OS) ?

Qemu audio.

I have googled around, but I was unable to find a way to let spice to connect to pulse audio server. I could not even find how to set QEMU_AUDIO_DRV with virt-manager. I also tried changing the qemu user from root to my own, to no avail. Best regards.-- Calsir. Last edited by calsir (2014-08-28 16:27:33)

First you need to switch Qemu to use AC97, for the soundhw option use ac97 i.e. -soundhw ac97 and also set QEMU_AUDIO_DRV to alsa (I also am setting the QEMU_PA_SAMPLES to 128 and not sure if that will affect things or not) QEMU_PA_SAMPLES=128 QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=alsa

I use libvirt to control everything. My XML file is here. (I should mention, yes my uid is 1000.) My qemu.conf file is here. As you can see, I have nographics_allow_host_audio=1 included. I am here because I don't know what else to look at. In pavu there are absolutely no indications of any audio from the VM. My question is 2 fold.
