Lunchbox171. Just thought I'd share my recent listening experience with a Linn Akurate dsm, akurate 2200 power amp and dynaudio special 40 loudspeakers, incase anyone is interested in this combo. I listened to the above this weekend at a local dealer, I had high hopes given the glowing reviews online of the Sp40's.

Dynaudio Audience 42W 's. These are shallow, front ported, and have a built in bracket on the back (and mount with a single screw) and are intended for wall mounting. Excellent for a small room, or as rear channels in a home theater. Rosewood veneer. $350 + shipping. Linn LP12. Serial number is 002682 which I think dates this to about 1973.

I have a Linn Classik-K and Dynaudio 52-SE. Withing your friend budget his best bet is the Linn K-20 and Nordost Z-Plugs. The Z-Plug is a big upgrade from the BFA supplied by Linn. I use KImber Kable 8-TC with Z-Plugs, the sound is great, but out of his budget. Hector

The problem is that the Dynaudio's need a lot of space behind them and in my room that is not an option! One and a half feet from the back wall max! The other thing is i have read really good things about the Linn Majik 109 speakers and these are ment to work especially well with the DSI. Trouble is no dealers up my way to demo!
