Nope, don't do it. You are connecting two outputs together (left and right audio) which in most cases can cause a failure of the output driver for one of both channels. Essentially you just shorted tow outputs together. What you can do is see if your receiver/preamp or whatever is the originator of this signal has an option for mono output.
