Old Audiophile 2496 VS Something Newer? - …

The 2496 is old, but actually scores pretty well on objective measurements of sound quality. I wouldn't rely on what people "hear" when it comes to this stuff. The Steinberg UR22 mentioned above manages 92.7dB of SNR, for example, certainly not something to brag about. Also in terms of low latency very few USB interfaces come close to the 2496.

Hi all, I've just finished setting up my daw - M-Audio 2496 with an Evolution MK149 (although I don't think the keyboard matters?) -----unfortunately there's a small amount of latency that just ruins it completley! I've tried tweaking the settings, but …

The creative drivers in audio creation mode are biased to produce low latency (I can get 2ms just about on my multi-purpose rig with an x-fi titanium, whilst the 2496 in the music rate is perfectly happy to sit at 4ms for ever)

Audiophile 2496 vs USB Audio Interface : Hi, Just getting started picking gear to record acoustic guitar and vocals (for starters). I would like to be able to use my laptop to record the base tracks, but sound quality is very important to me. Would really appreciate input on whether an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 is significantly better for sound quality than a USB audio …

Hi! If someone has one of these cards, I'd like to ask if it's possible to have an ASIO latency <2 ms without any problems, even if using lots of vst plugins. Thanks.

I installed a new M-Audio Audiophile 2496 with V. 5.10.00.36 Driver. It Co-exists with my Audigy 2 real well, no conflicts (Win XP Home). To my ears this was a nice upgrade over the Audigy 2. For now I'm using a Total Airhead, Senn H2270, and 6' Monster Cable RCA to 1/8" mini. I'm anxiously...

RE: audiophile 2496 PCI sound card. no sound 2005/07/27 17:47:45 ( permalink ) The M-Audio doesn't have a built-in synth to play Tutorial 1 which is an only MIDI project. You have two options: You can set the driver mode to MME-32 and then go to Options - MIDI Devices and select the wavetable synth (or similar synth that might be available in ...
