I have no space limitations so I took a chance on these M-Audio BX8 D2s being one of the more cheaper options on the list. After playing through at least 6 hours of my library, (320kbps mp3 and some FLAC) with the source being the RCA out on my Xonar STX sound card, I am overly satisfied with these monitors.

Unlike many close field monitors (particularly in this price range), the BX8a has an ampule amount of bass. Though it can be a bit loose at times, with a little bit of EQ they sound darn impressive - again considering the price! I was prepared to spend twice as much but am sure glad I found these first. Overall, the BX8 D3 are a great set of monitors for those looking to get into more detailed and accurate listening, and may be looking to upgrade from a smaller or less professional set-up. M-Audio produce reasonably priced products for entry level to intermediate level users, but the BX8 D3 feel like something more.

The crossover frequency is a little higher, at 2.5kHz, but the amplifier ratings are identical to those in the BX8 Carbon. Performance Despite them being eminently affordable, I felt very comfortable working with these speakers right from the start.
