Yeah you need to use the fast track ultra control panel software. In case it isn't obvious, the direct monitoring outputs (termed "hardware inputs") are the set of faders on the left. If you're listening on phones output 1 you need to have selected the monitor 1/2 tab. (assuming the software hasn't changed, I sold my fast track ultra).

There is a Monitor Mix knob in the lower right corner of your M-Track/M-Track Plus. Turn it all the way to USB to hear audio from your computer. Turn it all the way to Direct to only hear what’s plugged into the unit. When you turn the knob to somewhere in between, you will get a blend of both signals.
