M-audio Fast Track Pro "device not connected" 10.6.5. I recently bought an M-audio Fast Track Pro. I installed the latest driver (1.8.0), and it shows up in system preferences under "other". Although the device powers on, it is never read by my computer. I've tried using both USB ports, uninstalling the driver, repairing disk permissions, resetting PRAM, etc.

Try resetting the SMC and PRAM and then retest. If the problem persists try restarting in Safe Mode (hold down the Shift Key on restart until the computer restarts) and then reboot normally. If the resets do not work, try another cable. If that does not work, contact the developers of the m-audio fast track pro device and see if they support it under El Capitan.

The problem is the Fast Track Pro is not plug and Play therefore your driver didn't fully install. Go back in to control panel, hardware, devices and uninstall the Fast Track Pro. If you have it plugged in, unplug it. Re-install the drivers with the Fast Track Pro UNPLUGGED! Reboot, plug the Fast Track Pro back in and it should work.
