A few linux things, in qjackctl, set Periods /Buffer =3 and Midi Driver = none. Don't use a usb hub, use a power supply if there is a connector for one. Use 5 pin midi ports, or usb to connect, but not both. Unplug all other usb devices, and try each port after a new boot. Try alternate linux versions using live CD/dvd or usb stick or hard-disk installs.
