I have Windows XP Media Center Edition Service Pack 3. I lost sound when trying to install Windows Media Player 11. Under Control Panel/Sounds and Devices there is now no device listed for Volume, Speaker Settings. Problem being is the only way is to do a fresh install as it will over write Media Center. I guess if you really want to keep media center running I would invest in another hard drive and install XP Pro on that one and then get a removable drive bay and just swap out the OS drives when you want to switch between XP media center and XP Pro.
