The M-Audio Solaris has done the job. So far, I haven't found any need for the 10-dB pad, but the ability to change the microphone pattern is very handy, eliminating the need for multiple, special-purpose microphones. The built-in switchable filtering is also useful for live performance, although I don't use it for recording because I can apply ...

I've been using the M-Audio Solaris for about a year or so and have found it to be a pretty good condenser microphone. I usually don't trust the microphones made by M-Audio as I find that most of the time they aren't made at as high of a quality as other microphones out there that I use, but the Solaris turns out to be an exception.

The Solaris has a matte silver finish. The metal used for the body is not specified. Electronic Musician 2004 The highs of the Solaris weren’t quite as smooth as those of the Dragonfly and the C 3000 B, but the overall sound was clean and clear. The Solaris was especially nice on a soft-spoken female vocalist reading text, because it provided good definition on a quiet, smooth …

Reviewed by AJ. I recently got to try out M-Audio's new large- diaphragm condenser mics. The two are well constructed and moderately priced (though not as dirt cheap as the many bargain-basement Chinese condensers out there). The Luna mic is the simplest of the two. It has a fixed cardioid pattern and lacks the roll-off and pad switches available on the variable-pattern Solaris.

M-Audio Solaris Test The MP3 doesn't do it justice... This is a bit of the rehearsal of Sing, Sing, Sing - It's a bit sloppy, and as stated, it's very drum heavy. However, it should give a pretty good idea of what these babies are worth... Heavily & sloppily edited down to …
