SOO, turns out the problem was the UNO cord. I purchased a new m-audio midisport 2X2 interface and there are no problems receiving or sending. After a year of using the cheaper UNO, I would recommend anyone in the market for a midi interface get something more solid, especially with MAC 10.6xs, which I've read have issues with midi routing.
