It s set to digital output, which does not have volume control. Look in the headphone jack for the red light of the optical, digital output. There is a switch in the headphone jack that is supposed to switch it to digital when an optical connecter is plugged in. Sometimes the switch gets stuck in digital. Plugging and unplugging headphones may fix it.
