I’m having a similar issue. I have external speakers connected via the 3.5mm audio jack, every time the Mac mini sleeps the speakers no longer work. I’ve tried changing the audio output in System Preferences without success. The only way I have found to get them working again is to unplug them from the jack in back then plug them back in.

Look depending on the mac you got maybe the logic board was faulty but if you have a mac from 2013 to 2017 the audio driver is located on the DC in port next to the headphone jack and magsafe connector so getting the board replaced would be a waste of time money and would get you nowhere (A1466)
