ehh I'd skip the AV-40s and go for Bx5a's or another 5" (or better) model.. I got a pair of Mackie MR5 recently as my first monitors.. $180 USD a piece.. which doesnt really break the bank.. I really was going to get the MR8, but on second thought went for the smaller ones (coz im a tightwad and I'm in a small space)..

I purchased the M-Audio BX5a only because my sales egineer said that they were a prettry good product for the price range. I listened to the M-Audio BX5a's next to the Mackie MR5's, and the MR5's are banging. The M'Audio's were excellent with the high's but they lacked punch on the low end.
