Turns out that there are no Maxim audio chips to be seen! If you look at teardowns for the S8 and S9, you will see a Maxim Integrated audio amplifier. As of the S9 release, every flagship tablet, along the Note and S series phones since the Galaxy S3 contained audio chips from Maxim. Wish we had more people like you on this subreddit.
