Meadowlark claims these speakers simply "disappear" when the music starts and once you hear the Kestrels you'll know what they mean. This is due to a unique design of the speaker cabinet that is beyond my expertise to describe. The soundstage is as open as can be and bass is quite full (but never punchy) for a speaker of this size.

Review: Meadowlark Audio Kestrel hotrod Speaker
https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/review-meadowlark-audio-kestrel-hotrod-speaker
The Kestrel is a $1400 two way with a 1" Vifa tweeter and a 6.5" Scan Speak woofer. These drivers are mounted on a sloped (time aligned) front baffle which is made of 3/4" MDF. The cabinet is entirely deadened by a proprietary compound called Keldamp. Knocking on these speakers sounds like knocking on three inches of solid wood.
