There IS a way to play the alternate audio track in WMP, though it's not as straightforward as VLC. When playing the file, pause> Press Ctrl+M to bring up the classic menu> Click the 'Play' tab on top> Audio & language> Choose track> Press Ctrl+3 to hide menu> Enjoy!. Hope this helped. :)

I recommend using VLC player. Try to change video output settings. Go to View->Options/Playback/Output->DirectShow Video and choose the proper output (System Default, Overlay mixer Renderer, Enhanced Video Renderer etc.). On every change you have to restart MPC to take effect. Hope this helps.

Since you are using media player classic, if the subtitles are softsubs, then all you have to do to disable them is right click on the video while it's playing (or paused for that matter, heh ) and then going to navigate > subtitle language > No Subtitles. If however, the subtitles are hardsubs, you can't really do anything to turn 'em off.
