APS 50 is just another name for Audio 50, it's got satnav, unlike Audio 20, hence the 'Automated Pilot System'. The media interface in the facelift W245 won't support external HD, as far as I know - only an audio (mp3) player or smartphone.

The 50 APS can definitely NOT play MP3s. You'd have to do that with an external CD changer which can read those files, but choosing or controlling them would still be a problem. There's a German company working on an interface to enable an iPod to be hooked up to the 50 APS AND be controlled by the buttons in the steering wheel.

There isnt a separate audio-50 Comand. the APS part is irrelevant. Comand is comand. You can upgrade to comand. It will give you full postcode input, bluetooth streaming, better navigation. Map updates more readily available too. But to upgrade would mean changing the whole head unit , wouldn't it . television Always remembered RIP Joined
