Quite frankly, this is all just a matter of a subjective opinion. I have BSIAB2 and a MI Crunch Box and use them both. Very different animals. For example, I use Crunch Box + Treble Booster for early Black Sabbath stuff, and 80's rock. And BSIAB2 for high gain Marshall stuff, and it also sounds good on low gain for some edgy blues.

The Super Crunch Box is way more versatile plus if you want the old crunch box tone its in there, The presence pot is now external and the addition of a 3 position toggle for compression is another great option. I dont really have an issue with the low end its a matter of balancing the presence and the tone knob setting ...

The '78 is more Plexi to me, the Crunch Box is more JCM style. The '78 is a bright pedal and as mentioned above, does better with midrangey amps be it a Tweed Fender or Marshall. That said I'm a Blackface Fender guy and I still like it, but I run the tone control way low and don't use the crunch mode to avoid any over-the-top sizzle or harshness.

Re: MI Audio Crunchbox.... V1 vs V2 If I'm not mistaken there is an internal control. I believe it helped tame some of the brighter tones it has. I have a V1 and no complaints. I see no need for the internal control. At least for me personally. You've got a great Marshall in a box pedal without breaking the bank.
