The front panel mic jack works with the internal motherboard sound and the mic works in the rear panel of the SoundBlaster. That eliminates the case wiring and front panel jack and puts it back to the SoundBlaster, either a driver/setup issue internal to the sound card or how the front panel connector on the SoundBlaster is wired.

I've got a SB Live sound card and audio plugs (Mic, Headphones, USB plugs as well) at the front of my Aopen Case. This was all put in when I bought it but the headphone jack at the front doesn't work, when I went back to ask about it the shop told me that they don't know how to connect or setup the headphone jacks for the SB card.
