1) No matter WHAT the model tag says, no MaxTrac, Radius, M-series or GM300 mobile will ever operate over the entire frequency range listed on its model tag / label. Each unit will do only a portion of that model tag frequency spread, called a "split", a "bandsplit" or a "range".
Adding Flat Transmit Audio to a 5-pin MaxTrac

The 16-pin logic boards already have a provision on the 16-pin Accessory Connector for microphone audio on pin 2 or flat TX audio on pin 5. The 5-pin logic boards have no external microphone audio input, so the only way to feed audio into these radios is to use the front-panel RJ45 microphone jack pin 5 or wire up a cable and let it hang out of the radio.

You might look at the firmware PROM. Some people have changed Maxtrac's to be Radius in order to use the accessory connector for remote channel change. Kind of a BCD channel change. The Maxtrac firmware doesn't do it. Maxtrac should be 5.36 or lower, Radius would be 21.01. Its a longshot, but worth a look.
