Had the same problem with MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b producing no audio with some AVI files that it formally played fine on my Intel mac running Leopard. Tried all the suggestions I found online (reinstalling, updating Perian, etc.) with no luck. I tried the files with version 1.9.2 and got the same results.

I then tried it in MPEG Streamclip but this is where my problem begins. No matter what I do I can't get audio on any output file. The avi file plays normally in Quicktime and VLC, but I've noticed that in the player in Streamclip there is no audio. Even exporting to other output files gives no relief either.

Are you using the save to or export to avi in mpegstreamclip? If you use the Save to it should not be reconverted. I just tried trim an avi with divx video and mp3 audio and it worked fine. I used the File->Save to and choosed avi. I'm using mpeg streamclip 1.9.3b8 on mac os x …

I use an Archos AV 500 Mobile DVR to record pictures from a camcorder. It records in AVI format, so before editing it in FCP, I convert it into a Quicktime file using Mpeg Streamclip. This usually works fine, but for some reason every time I try and do it now, the pictures convert fine, but I don't get any sound.
