You should be able to enable all sound through digital output via optical cable. But only 5.1 pre-mastered videos will be 5.1. All other sounds will be 2 channel stereo via optical cable. I have the MSI MAG Z490 Tomahawk motherboard and attempted to connect it to my amp via fiber optic but found that it only sends two channel audio. Turns out there's some issue with various compaines (which I guess includes MSI or their partners) not wanting to pay licensing to Dolby or whoever so it appears that the only option is 2.1.
