The issue is with the motherboard. There is a connection from motherboard to the audio jack in the front panel. The audio jack on the rear side doesn’t need any connection like that. I would suggest you to check that, if it is still not working then it would good to sheck with the computer manufacturer for further help.

However, Win7 won't even play out of the front panel, unless it detects headphones. So my headphones are not working. I've scoured the internets for a way to either: 1. The problem is that the front panel audio is AC'97 spec whilst the motherboard is HD Audio spec. The AC'97 connector from the front panel as a result lacks two presence sensing wires (PRESENCE and J_SENSE) for each of the mic and headphone ports.
