I am seeing major stutter when trying to play Atmos enabled movies regardless if they are 5.1 or 7.1 audio. I am using a Nvidia GT 630 HDMI connection to Yamaha TSR-700 receiver. Passthrough is enabled on remote frontend. During the stutter the receiver display shows decoder off for a spit second before the DTHD returns.

After upgrading to a 2.6.19.1 kernel, MythTV could produce 5.1-channel output from appropriate sources (DVDs or files ripped from them). Another possible cause of too-few sound channels is mixer settings. Check in the alsamixer utility (or some other mixer) to be sure that the "Channel Mode" is set to "6," or higher if appropriate.

@stu247 - another test you should try is to play the recorded .mpg file using Kodi's default video player instead of through the MythTV plugin. If you're still seeing stuttering, MythTV has nothing to do with it - it is a video playback issue likely due to deinterlacing, which does require some CPU horsepower...

On Feb 18, I was asked to see if this was fixed in latest SVN (after the audio patch). I tried 9079 and 9248 and still saw the same issue. I have since updated to the latest 0-19-fixes release and with this release, XvMC still has some prebuffering pauses but is not visibly noticable and pause/unpause doesn't really seem to make a difference ...
