One installer tells me the Niles is better as it can handle more power output for speakers but need to add on stuff for iPad or andriod control whereas the Russound I've seen has this interface built in. So having a tough time to decide as still a noob. Budget is somewhat flexible but we're not huge audiophiles. Prefer watching HD sports or movies.

The ADCOM GFS-6 speaker selector was what I got. I hooked the Revel Salon2, B&W 802 D2, Linkwitz Orion 3.2.1, KEF 201/2, Phil3, Dynaudio, Focal speakers to these ADCOM GFS-6 selectors. I think the GFS-6 is rated for 200 watts. The speaker binding posts are big and accept 12 AWG wires and bananas, spades, etc.

Others to consider would be NuVo GC (audio only), NuVo Essentia (audio only), Russound Sphere (high end), Russound CAV/CAM (A/V vs. audio only), Speakercraft MODE. Not an exhaustive list. ... (vs. $800 for Niles remote controller). Sonos is easily expandable- one box for each zone up to 32 zones.
