I installed Pro Tools First, opened up the default "Blues", click play and no sound comes out (and my volume is definitely up). I click Playback Engine, and see it set to Realtek High Definition Audio. I try changing to my regular output device from my LG TV. I then get the message that the project must be restarted. I restart. I open up.

In Pro Tools, go to Setup > Preferences > MIDI and set Default MIDI Instrument to First Selected MIDI Track so you can just click on the track name to play/hear your instrument. If it's not playing you can show Instruments in View > Mix Window (or Edit Window) to confirm it's routed correctly.

Look at the input/output tabs and determine that avid is configured to go either via your onboard sound card or by your external hardware. On my black magic I/O the sound comes out via the TV set, not the computer, this took me by surprise initially. A bit of trial and error should get you there.

Avid Media Composer 3.0.5 Mojo SDI. Windows XP Pro SP2, HP workstation xw8200, Intel Xeon 3.4GHz, 4GB RAM. I have no audio coming from my Media Composer with mojo SDI (on a PC). Well there is audio coming out embedded through the SDI channels but no audio coming from any other outputs into my monitors.

Once I imported it into Avid, no more audio. I figured a short term way around (to make my deadline today) was to compress it into a 768stream qt file and import that into Avid. The audio sounds the same but the video is a bit worse so I used the original video and took the audio from the 768stream video.
