Replied on May 12, 2016. In reply to John W [MSFT]'s post on August 18, 2015. and with insider build 14342 this issue still exists. Sound will start, then 3 servicies will stop: Windows Audio Service, Windows Event Log and Security Center, run the troubleshooter, and things will work, and a bit later the services will stop again.

If you can't get anything out of S/PDIF at all but did before, I'd say you messed up the cable (plugged in all the way, each end?) or simply are not selecting the correct input at your receiver.
